Tourism is a continuously growing worldwide social phenomenon. Newly arising ways of tourism and new destinations (for example, cities), different from traditional "sun and beach" seaside destinations, have gain importance. At the same time, most cities have been implementing new management and planning approaches in the last decades. One of the most frequently applied is the modality conventionally labeled as "urban project". This paper addresses the result of this strategy in the case of the city of Gualeguaychú [Entre Ríos], Argentina, a national touristic destination recently consolidated as an epicenter of summer time carnival activities. The transformation of the city's main train station into a stadium-like facility for parades is studied.
