In this paper we summarise the main conceptual and methodological issues of a more comprehensive research study on the importance of Eco-Innovation Parks for increased resource-efficiency towards a green economy. Like in the original research, which is a part of our endeavours in the field of the resource productivity drivers, the approach starts from the most general and theoretical concepts and features of the green economy, sustainable economic development and their subsequent inter-related objectives. It is highlighted that resource-efficiency is a main paradigm behind the green and circular economy system that optimizes the flow of goods and services to get the most out of raw materials and cuts waste to the absolute minimum. The importance of the shift towards a green (resource-efficient and low-carbon) economy in the EU and consequently, in Romania may be acknowledged by discovering its drivers and advantages. The second part of the paper presents the role and importance of the eco-innovation and eco-innovation parks (EInvP) in the green economic development. Besides citing the conclusions of a recent international survey, we report on finding and proving the evidence on a positive correlation between the number of existing eco-innovation parks EInvP and the national level of resource productivity (as macroeconomic indicator of the resource-efficiency). In conclusion, we recommend the creation and development of such eco-innovation parks in Romania, as a way to promote important benefits and gains of resource-productivity, and to promote green growth.
